We are proud to have the support of organisations such as the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). Their involvement strengthens our mission to promote international and cross-jurisdictional collaboration in order to improve the quality, scope and impact of university-level forestry education in Latin America.

The International Union of Forest Research Organisations (IUFRO) is a non-governmental, non-profit international network of forest scientists that promotes global cooperation in forest-related research and enhances understanding of the ecological, economic and social aspects of forests.

IUFRO’s primary purpose is to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations. Its work is guided by the core values of Excellence, Networking, Diversity and Integrity. It achieves these objectives through networking activities, including the generation, exchange and dissemination of scientific knowledge and practices; through access to relevant information; and by assisting scientists and institutions to strengthen their research capacities.

Active since 1892, it currently has more than 630 member organisations, over 15,000 scientists, 800 volunteer coordinators and a presence in 115 countries.

The Argentine Network for Forest Science and Technology (REDFOR.ar) is a joint initiative of institutions involved in forest sciences, comprising lecturers, researchers and organisations linked to forestry education, science and technology.

The initiative to establish this network stems from the fact that forests are becoming increasingly important in economic, social and environmental terms, both in Argentina and across the rest of the world. With this in mind, REDFOR.ar aims to contribute to policies on professional training, research and knowledge transfer in areas related to the conservation and sustainable management of forests and forest lands, the well-being of the populations that depend on them, the achievement of other sustainable development goals, and forest-industrial development.

Its mission is to coordinate and strengthen existing scientific and technical capacities in Argentina to enhance and promote sustainable forestry development, whilst its objective is to coordinate actions for the generation and transfer of scientific and technical knowledge related to the forestry sector.

It brings together Argentina’s leading forestry education and research institutions with the aim of facilitating collaboration in forestry science and technology among all its member bodies and with those who, whilst not members, are involved in decision-making and the management of the Argentine forestry sector.
